Aquaculture occupies an important role in Japanese fisheries; it also plays various social, cultural and economic roles and functions other than food supply, but is becoming a problem in that leftover feed and excrement causes coastal environmental pollution. A subsidy system is already in place in the EU and USA to compensate for the decreased revenue and increased costs incurred by reducing environmental damage by agriculture. In this study, I consider a plan to apply a similar subsidy system to Japanese aquaculture.
