Abstract
Tiger puffer (Takifugu rubripes) is a commercially important fish species in Japan, and many ecological studies and rearing experiments have been conducted on this species. Information on the spawning ecology in the wild, and especially the effects of environmental factors have been reported in the literature but this information has not been summarized. So, we reviewed spawning ground, spawning season, environment, distribution and post-hatching migration with growth from the spawning ground to the East China Sea, Yellow Sea and coast of Kyusyu, with special reference to the effects of water temperature.
